Bringing home the bacon

Kuhlow Girls Showpigs...

...is a family operation consisting of Chelsea, Courtney and Kallista Kuhlow (with a little help from our dad, Darin R Kuhlow). Our goal is to provide our customers with championship-caliber, HEALTHY, problem-free showpig genetics.

Our idea of a great hog is one that is healthy, sound, free-moving, attractive, and muscular with adequate frame, width, bone and leanness. We emphasize soundness, structure and BALANCE above all else. We like hogs that are always in style, no matter which way the trend swings. We believe that a hog that is fundamentally good will always be fundamentally good.

Our goal is to create one of the nation’s most elite sow herds. Our herd currently consists of Yorkshires, Durocs and Exotics. We began our sow herd with the purchase of weanling gilts from our dad’s company, Limit Up, Inc. and subsequently added a few select females from Olsen Yorkshires and Cedar Ridge Farms. The Limit Up herd originated in the early 1990’s with breeding stock from an SPF-health genetics provider and developed winning showpig lines which produced many champions at the county and state levels.

Our Yorkshire females can be traced back to some of the most prolific maternal Yorkshire lines of the 80’s and 90’s including the original Swedish imports made by SGI and others. Many generations of selection and breeding with modern showpig sires have given our Yorkshires that winning phenotype, yet they still possess the maternal characteristics of their heritage.

Our herd maintains the original health status, being free from PRRS, mycoplasma pneumonia, APP, lice, mange and many other diseases. We follow strict health and bio-security protocols to maintain our herd health status. In addition we incorporate the most modern production practices to maximize our herd’s potential and are always willing to help our customers achieve success with our genetics. Contact us any time if you have questions about our genetics, health or production practices.
